IBPaterson About Me Image

About IBPaterson Illustrations. My name is Inga Paterson. I worked in Higher Education, in digital art and design, for twenty years. Until the day I found myself with my head on the desk unable to type another email; a classic case of burnout. When that happens, you know it is time for a change!

Leisure by William Henry Davies

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass…..

During the COVID 19 lockdown, while cycling through Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow, I was inspired to illustrate the strange phenomenon of socially distanced exercise. It was the beginning of doing what I’ve always wanted to do. To be an artist.
I’ve since progressed to painting and I’m still searching for my direction with that.
My illustrations often feature the minutia; the small things that go overlooked in our busy lives. Custom images feature loved ones, past and present, in favourite places. Other pieces depict landscapes and the grandeur of nature.

How rich life is when we take the time to stand and stare and see where squirrels hide nuts in grass.
