My Process

I’ve developed a set of steps that guide me from idea to finished painting. It all starts with immersing myself in nature, particularly wild landscapes, whenever I can. I prefer the untamed beauty of remote places over drawing everyday scenes. When I venture out, I always bring along my camera and sketchbook, and sometimes I rely on hiking boots or skis to reach inaccessible areas.

Being in nature brings me a profound sense of peace, whether it’s amidst the wild energy of a windy day or the tranquil stillness of a calm one.

Studies conducted after the first COVID-19 lockdown in the UK have found a positive link between outdoor activities and improved mental health. Research suggests that exposure to nature helps alleviate the mental exhaustion caused by the constant sensory overload of urban life.

For me, this rings true based on my own experiences.
